The Firm
Our Story
Rooted in New England,
refined by the world.
Harlow Interiors was founded in 2011 by Eleanor Harlow, following a decade working across London, Paris, and New York. Returning to her native Boston, Eleanor set out to build a practice rooted in the city's architectural heritage — the brownstones of Back Bay, the Federal-era townhouses of Beacon Hill — while bringing a distinctly international sensibility to each project.
Today the firm works exclusively on residential commissions: full-home renovations, bespoke interior design, and pre-sale staging for discerning homeowners across Greater Boston and the North Shore. Our client list is intentionally small. We take on fewer than twelve projects per year, ensuring that every home receives the full weight of our attention.
We are not a studio that chases trends. We are a studio that builds rooms meant to last.
Eleanor Harlow
Principal Designer &
Founder
Eleanor studied architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design before completing a postgraduate fellowship at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. She spent eight years at two of London's most respected residential practices before returning to the United States.
Her work is characterised by a rigorous attention to proportion, a preference for natural materials, and an instinct for the way light moves through a room across the course of a day. She is particularly drawn to the challenge of older homes — finding the latent elegance within a structure and coaxing it forward.
Eleanor lives in Cambridge with her husband and two children. She is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers and serves on the board of the Boston Preservation Alliance.

Our Philosophy
Four principles that guide every room we design.
Restraint
We believe the most powerful rooms are those where nothing is superfluous. Every object earns its place.
Materiality
Natural stone, aged brass, hand-woven textiles — we source materials that carry history and improve with time.
Collaboration
Our best work emerges from deep listening. We treat each client as a co-author of their own home.
Longevity
We design for decades, not seasons. Trend-resistant interiors that feel as considered in twenty years as they do today.
"A beautiful home is not assembled — it is cultivated. It takes time, intention, and the courage to leave things out."
